A Mapped Plan to Survival

"Because he lacked a good map, the cable spanning the river also remained incognito. Studying the Teklanika's violent flow, McCandless thus mistakenly concluded that it was impossible to reach the eastern shore." (Krakauer 174).

Travel Advice

To Adventure is a grand thing in the eyes of some, but adventuring can be dangerous if not thought about at all before heading out. If you want to go out to uncharted territory you're going to have a hard time, cause in this day and age almost everywhere is taken or charted. And going out into the wild without a map to make it seem uncharted is an even worse idea. It may seem as if you're heading into uncharted territory, but in reality you're just heading into an area without knowing if you're able to get help or reach civilization to get some aid. Always bring a map with you, even if you want to go into "uncharted" territory. Better to be safe than sorry if you get what I mean. There are other things that could help you out in the wild, such as a satellite phone and/or a compass. Both of these things can help you get some aid when you're having an unbearble pain or just need help. Hope you guys stay safe, and make sure to not put yourself in harms way!

How to Bearly Make it Through

"By the time he finally understood that nobody was going to come rescue him, he'd shriveled up to the point where it was too late for him to do anything about it." (Krakauer 84).

Travel Advice

Hello again Adventurers, I hope you have survived to read my blog. I hope that I do not need to remind you, but it is very important that you plan your adventurers or explorations carefully ahead of time. There have been many cases in which a person doesn't make it out alive due to poor planning. A plan is key to surviving the wilds such as "How do I get there" or "How do I get out of there". Going into the wild without a plan is just like going in blindfolded and barefooted, you're only going to hurt yourself. You need to be able to plan your way to the area you wanna camp, how long you're going to stay, how you'll survive there, and how you'll go back home. These things are key factors to your survival and without one of the four things I listed, I doubt you'd bearly get out unharmed or alive. Good Luck out there, and stay beary safe.

A Beary Helpful Tip to Camping

"His gear seemed exceedingly minimal for the harsh conditions of the interior, which in April still lay buried under the winter snowpack. Alex's cheap leather hiking boots were neither waterproof nor well insulated. His rifle was only .22 caliber, a bore too small to rely on... He had no ax, no bug dope, no snowshoes, no compass." (Krakauer 5).

Travel Advice

The Great Outdoors is a dangerous place to be, almost unbearable to most city folk. But anyone can survive the outdoors, as long as you are prepared. First off you'll need a good amount of perishables to eat in case you didn't get anything from hunting, or just to eat if you do not plan plan on hunting. But if you do go hunting, it would be a very smart thing to bring along a strong rifle, enough to kill a moose or other creatures you come upon. It could also be used to fight off bears if you do happen on them. Next would be your attire, it gets cold in the northern regions of North America so you want to make sure you wear some thick jackets and good boots to stay dry and warm. It would be a bad thing to freeze to death out in the cold wilds, and I doubt your family could bear your death. There are other things that you would need to survive, such as an ax to cut yourself some firewood, and a compass so you can always find a way home. Though learning constellations can also be helpful. Thanks for reading, and stay beary safe guys!
